Re: Early Winter Bits and Bobs.

Geoff, I’ve just bought a 1kg tub for £8.99 on Amazon. It’s probably cheaper in a shop, but I’ve been ill and unable to get out. I was pretty shocked at that price too, but as I only have a small patch, 1 kg should last me a while. Good luck.

Happy new year to you all. I’ll be happy with some bags of strulch, and for the ground to dry out a bit, so I can go and play!

Re: Early Winter Bits and Bobs.

We have been suffering from the flu since last week, but I did manage to cook some roasties etc for lunch yesterday and we have plenty left for bubble & squeak today - my DH’s favourite. Hope you all have a relaxing day today. X

Re: What's everyone having for Christmas?

I was going to make a veggie wellington, but we both have the flu and it’s hanging around like a bad smell. Ironic, as I’ve lost my sense of smell and taste 🙁. I’ve no idea if I will be up to cooking a roast, but hope to.

I'll be outside all day on Saturday in Chesham with my stall at the local produce market. The forecast is sunny (yay!) but between 3-5 degrees. Brrrr!

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

I did manage to get the cover off the tomato house yesterday before the storm arrived. There were a few green ones, which I have taken indoors to ripen (hopefully). There are still one or two mini cucumbers in the greenhouse, as it is still mild, I'll leave those in for a bit longer.

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

We’ve had so much heavy rain recently, that our garage roof has sprung another leak. We’ve been mending the leaks ourselves over the years, the 25 year old felt roof need replacing, so we had a man out today to take a look. That’s Christmas presents sorted then! 😆😆😆

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

I had wanted to take the tomato house cover off on Sunday, but it was torrential all day, so it's still there now! I'd like to get it dried and folded away before it rips and becomes more rubbish to get rid of. Next year, I think we will use the plastic sheet you can buy from Wickes on the tomato ho...

Thankyou Primrose! It’s nail polish 😊 I’m going to tie them along some twine as a garland. A Christmas gift for a crafty friend.

Primrose, I am using them for crafting. They must be washed and dehydrated, a lot of them have bugs inside. I wouldn’t use them in the kitchen!

Re: Foraging

Primrose, I have been throwing cherry & peach stones into the undergrowth in our local park. You never know! I also have a couple of oak seedlings which I am planning to guerilla plant in the grass verge outside our house. There is an almost constant row of oaks along our road, but several fell ...
