Explain this!

Hiya My outdoor toms were spectacular this summer - way more than I could eat - friends groaned when they saw me coming down their drive with carrier bags full to give away. The blight struck a couple of weeks ago BUT on a patch of ground where the chickens had been for a few months several tom plan...

Is my Gooseberry a Gonner?

Hi I've just returned from a few days away to find my 3 gooseberry bushes completley defoliated by what I assume is gooseberry sawfly (little black headed catapillars?) There isnt a leaf left on my 2 year old bushes. I've picked off and squished as many as I could find but will the bushes survive? Sue

Chantals right - although I have been disapointed this time, my previous subscriptions have been trouble free. I will put it down to the change of ownership - funny how the 'taking the dosh from your bank account' bit always works perfectly though  -

Att. Valmarg

Hi Val
Just to say the greenhouse I had from you is nearing completion - Taken me a while to get round to getting the glass in but hopefully I will soon have somewhere warmer to hide from the weather and still be in the garden :D

A few of years ago I bought several fruit trees and bushes and due to a sliped disk Ouch - my plants were left in a shed for nearly 3 months. The were well wrapped and kept moist but after planting the red currants were a bit slow but otherwise everything was just fine. When you think that supermark...

If we had a moderator we could split this rant session into two threads - the pro/anti charging for emergency rescue services and the slightly more academic debate about the English language! Its exactly this kind of debate that keeps me logging on! Its a great site for info re the garden but its ju...

I thouroghly enjoyed the fruit growers special last night. Any footage of people in shorts sleves with a tan is good for the soul at this time of year I found it quite informative but really it was just 'nice' viewing. I loved the way Sarah Raven kept refering to her 'limited space' and 'small' orch...

Help getting rid of wild blackberries

I have inherited a border against a wall that has been neglected for many years and I am now about to start to revive it.I have cleared as much of the weeds and couch grass that I can but am now left with a lot of well established wild brambles - I've pulled and cut out what I can but am left with s...
