Re: 2024 season begins
Agree. Better to be away with the fairies when having some of these rather unpleasant procedures. Getting older or sicker isn't much fun. We just have to be grateful for the good days even though sometimes there.seem to be fewer of them.!

Re: 2024 season begins
Good to see you again tigerburnie. That looks a fair old blustery breeze amongst the trees through your greenhouse window ! Mind you, I think everybody is having problems with the weather this year wherever they're located. Certainly slugs and snails seem to be very prolific. Guess they like all the...

Re: Grow Your Own Drugs
I didn't know that Myrkk. Just shows you can't take you eye off the ball for a moment in this sharp dealing world. Meanwhile, any offers for the almost commercial quantities of moss in our lawns that all this year,s rainfall has caused? . We could almost be starting the beginning of a new peat bog! ...

Re: Grow Your Own Drugs
I'm surprised the pharmaceutical companies arnt more behind the Save the rainforests" movement for this very reason, although I suspect some of the compounds discovered can now be produced by "Artificial" means.

Re: Grow Your Own Drugs
One thing's for sure. The waste water system would have been a lot less poisoned by all these natural compounds in olden days compared with all the modern drugs being excreted down ur toilets these days by half the population. But it,s surrising how many of our modern drugs had their origins in herb...

Re: Robins
Robins are such feisty little birds. We have one who flies up to our patio door every morning t beg for food. And he makes sure he gets it. If wwe don't respond he gets increasingly aggressive and cheeky,. We love him and are definitely now programmed to fulfil his every demand.

"Why not get some more moderators." I assume these are people who do these tasks on a voluntary basis? Having been involved in the voluntary sector for many years I can attest that anybody who is prepared to do anything in their own time, of their own volition and without payment is as rar...

If you really like the house you're about to rent why not approach the landlord and see if he'd interested in selling it to you at some point in yiur tenancy?

It seems just as soon as we have a dry day along comes another wet bank holiday Monday! We really should get a wet weather refund!
All the ewrlier sown climbing beans sown by amr Primrose outdoors appear to have rotted. Too early and too cold I suspect.

Re: Grow organic vegetables in small spaces
If you really don't have space anywhere for a compost heap you might try experimenting with composting down small quantities of kitchen waste (banana skins, peelings etc) in pots while the vgs are actually growing i them. I,ve tried this successfully with tomatoes whilst they,ve been growing althoug...

Re: We're moving to Scotand
Best of luck Stravaig! Both buying and selling in the property market is a stressful actvity. It,s amazing how much " clutter" you acquire over the years although I suspect with the number of times you've moved recently you've probably got it down to a fine art!

Myrkk We have a keysafe too and find that in heavy winds the covering flap which fits a little loosely often gets accidentally blown open so check whether yours is loose. The first time it happened to ours we thought it was an intruder then in a storm we actually heard it blow open and start flappin...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.
I took glucosamine for years then gave it up yet still have a crippling arthritic knee. Perhaps I should try again. Tomatoes form a huge part of our diet in various forms. Mr Primrose who,s the full time cook now would be really lost without them. Can't think of anything savoury yet non aciditic whi...

Re: We're moving to Scotand
Rent vs Buy.? Always a dilemma depending on peoples', personal priorities and inclinations.. Personally I,d opt to buy because I like to be master of my own destiny, as far as anybody can be in these uncertain times. And I never want somebody else to have the power to pull the roof from over my head...
