Its absolutley fantastic as is strong, bends easily but holds what ever shape you give it and ordinary clothes pegs fit as clips to hold the mesh on. I have them about 4 feet high at the highest point. The ends are pushed onto...

Thanks for the tip re growing in a pot. I have to admit they are a bit 'sharp' raw but cranberry and orange american style muffins are one of my favourite winter breakfasts - have also made a fabby orange and cranberry sauce for lamb with it, made a change from the mint. Cranberries are v.expensive ...

You know its nearly winter when.....
....the first of the seed catalogues arrive in the post. I usually save the joy of looking through them for long winter nights infront of the fire but seeing as today feels like winter anyway I've had a scan. I fancy the idea of trying cranberries - similar to Hilary's post about goji berries I wond...

Baby Sweet corn
Despite a bad year for many things, my mini sweet corn have done exceptionally well! I have several kilos of baby sweet corn and with the price at around £7 a kilo in the super market I'm keen to preserve them. I intend to freeze - should I blanch them in boiling water first and if so, for how long?

A friend of mines' site had every onion on every plot (around 80 plots) stolen a few summers ago. The general consensus was that a buger/hot dog van owner was to blame but was never traced. The site is surrounded by student accomodation too so there have been a few starving students caught with the ...

Thanks! That has been very useful. I found the site and the article about onion rot and also honey fungus - needed a dictionary to read it but very informative I see what you mean about 'technical' data. I am reasured the product is completley bio degradable and onion rot takes extreme measures. I p...

What causes Chocolate Spot?
I picked my broad beans yesterday and was surprised to see quite a lot of 'chocolate coloured' marks on the leaves - I looked it up in my trusty Pocket Vegetable expert and low and behold there is such as thing as 'Chocolate spot' What causes this - the leaves got a bit lacerated around a month ago ...
