Re: weedkiller transfer

Hi, I’ve only had my allotment for three years and usually hoe and dig weeds away. I’m considering chemicals to control them due to my back suffering. What are your motivations to not use chemicals now. You probably have more experience than I. I have to many weeds on the ground I cleared two years ...

Weed control

Hi,

If I use glyphosate to control my weeds where is the best place to buy it at the best price, for an area the size of a tennis court.

Secondly, is roundup the right stuff? From Homebase....must be real expensive.

This will save me digging endless weeds correct?

Cheers.

Re: Will my weeds die in winter!

The allotment was 4ft high country grass when I started, so not being a fan of raised beds I dug most of the foot thick turf away to get to the bare ground beneath. It was the only practicable solution.

Re: Drying beans for seed

I don’t think it will matter if it’s alive, which it surely is. I thought the same about my dried broad beans that had hot direct sunlight for weeks. I don’t think it will make any difference. No proof to speak of here.

Re: Broad beans

We’re they rotated in new areas? If not soil deficiency would be the cause.

Otherwise I think it’s because it’s been too dry.

Did you overwinter them first?
