last couple of days i have been dismantling a raised strawberry bed riddled with vine weevil, i have sifted all the soil and compost they were in and put the little white grubs to one side, done this about 4 times now and it is very satisfying seeing the robin tits and blackbirds queing up for their...

Primrose, there is a company in the north west that makes compost from sheeps wool and bracken, I think it's just called wool compost!

Been down to the allotment this morning sprayed the greenhouse with Jeyes then washed it with soapy water then jet washed it, looks like a new one now, well chuffed.

We don't have real one but i have rescued a few that have been thrown away,with a bit of work they make lovely walking sticks.

Does anyone know if lining the polytunnel with bubble wrap will keep the frost out enough to grow peppers on after germination, also will it stop condensation?

don't know if it's a bit early but i've weeded 3 beds (4x4 meter beds) manured them and covered them with black plastic, they should be well rich bye next march.

For 3 years now I have only had a couple of pears on the tree after blossoming, plenty of blossom and plenty of fruit but it all falls off.

Talking of frost, my grapevine had about 4 inch of side shoots on but not anymore,the frost has killed them off,anyone know if it will come back or is that it for this year.

Just put 2 rows of first earlies in ,hope they do as well as the ones i put in tubs in the polytunnel about three and half week ago,i've earthed them up twice, the tubs are full and they are through the top already, happy days!

Just going up to Homebase for some compost, J Arthur Bowers , not fantastic compost but @£5 for 120l it's plenty good enough for putting round the fruit trees.
