Re: Bean/Pea Frame

When I put the peas grown in the green house in the veg bed do I need to cover them with netting?

Will the pheasants or pigeons find them a tasty treat or is it only when they are seeds?

Re: Spread Sheet

Thanks for all you replies, yes I did a search but did not come up with much of interest.

At the moment I make a note of what is sown & date on paper then transfer it to a word document. This is 5 pages long so far, so wondering how can I collate it into something useful for later on.

Re: Bean/Pea Frame

Thank you for your replies. Direction is North (left) to south (right) looking at the picture, so both sides should get the sun. Peas are Early Onwards, Green Shaft & Alderman I am now thinking of using bamboo poles all along and using brown rough string/rope horizontally at 4 inch spacing. When...

Re: (Delayed) Spring 2018

Thanks for you kind comments, can’t say it was hard work, just used the little & often approach. Most days I was the only person on their plot during the winter. There was the benefit that the plot had been looked after in the past though.

Re: (Delayed) Spring 2018

It is starting to look like an allotment at last.

There are new buds in the orchard....The veg beds are looking good...But don't linger in the rubbish corner.

Bean/Pea Frame

I have used the best Bean frame idea and made a 12 foot span.

Intend to divide it in 3 x 4ft sections middle section will be beans the other 2 each side will be peas.

Intend to use bamboo poles for beans.

What would be best for peas, bamboo, netting, string/rope?

Re: April fool?

No did not see it but hey I read it in March not April, Reading May now soon be summer at this rate. "(on that subject, I wish magazines didn't come out 4/5/6 weeks before the month on the cover. But that is just a personal grouse, sorry)" Fully agree, mag has less relevance to time of rea...

Carrot Fly

Read that carrot fly cannot go above 3 feet.

If I raised the bed above 3 feet would I still need to cover them?
