Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.
I still haven't planted anythign out, I am so worried about the slugs, I'll basically be laying out a royal feast for them. A lot of my young plants are still in the conservatory after a whole batch of kale and PSB disappeared overnight. I’ve started using sheep wool pellets and am very impressed w...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.
Managed to get the veg bed weeded today and the tatties banked up in the few moments of dry weather we had. Getting a bulk load of logs delivered tomorrow so we can stock up for the winter so tidied the drive between the house and found the cutest little orange frog. Have put it in our puddl. Erm po...

Re: Grow Your Own Drugs
One company that will remain nameless tried to get the rights to turmeric a good few years ago. Happily they were denied.

Re: Beefsteak Tomatoes
It’s a long time since I grew beefsteak tomatoes but the last I grew were Black Russian’s. They were pretty easy to grow and I got a good crop from each plant. Can’t remember how they tasted exactly but I don’t remember them being horrible.

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.
Hope so robo and hope the cut heals up quickly for you
Hope the digging is easier than expected retropants, it’s lovely to see the other plants do well but it would be nice if they stayed in one spot. It’s horsetail and ivy for us.

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.
3.5hrs to travel the 50mins home from work tonight as the main road eastbound is flooded! Ruddy Edinburgh council, useless bunch. No gardening been done for 3 days now the weather has been so poor. Think this might be the cycle of this summer. Nice followed by rain, followed by nice followed by rain...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.
I’ve popped some wool pellets around mine so fingers crossed. It’s mainly the brassicas getting it though.

Re: Earthworms
I know Westi, it’s a worry. Sadly I don’t have a picture of it as I was too busy trying to catch it.

Re: Earthworms
I’ve googled to no avail OH. Did you know there is an earthworm society of Britain! Www.earthwormsoc.org.uk ? currently on their site having a wee search and have joined a facebook earthworm group too lol. Must admit to having a wee soft spot for our little wrigglers.

Earthworms
Just saw the strangest ?earthworm?, around 1inch long, white, about 1mm to 2mm diameter and SUPER fast moving. I’ve never seen anything like this, I struggled to catch it ‘cause it moved that fast, then lost it. I know there are different types of earthworm but is this a native wriggler or should I ...

Re: Robins
Sooo exciting. I love such close calls with nature, always makes me catch my breath and try not to giggle like a schoolgirl. The birds are quite chilled in our garden and get quite close. The closest encounter I’ve had recently was with a hedgehog though, I had to move it after my blind dog pranged ...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.
Hope you’re fully rested tomorrow Westi and up and at it again. I used to find that the networking at the allotment was at least as enjoyable (and important) as the actual veggies.
LOL Clive. At least it’s not smellyvision.
