Re: A beautiful put-down!
Nice story John, you must feel proud to have had a hand in the lecturers early days and as you say there is always someone in the audience who thinks they know better.

Re: Silver Leaf in Plum tree
Geoff / Beryl - Thanks for your suggestions, I didn't think about 'Die Back' and on reflection I must admit it could be this. Either way it looks bad Two years ago this was a hugely productive tree, we used to get far more than we could eat from it. So I would like to save it if possible 'tho it's n...

Silver Leaf in Plum tree
I have sadly discovered one of our plum trees has 'Silver Leaf' there are many branches where the leaves have died back and many of the new shoots have ended up with leaves curled up and looking decidely unwell!! Has anyone been able to 'recover' a tree which has this disease , we had a very dry spr...

Hi there Donedigging, Sorry have not been on this forum recently, I hope you are recovering well and the six weeks are nearly up so you can get back to the plot Also, don't know if it's any consolation but we have had a huge invasion of slugs this year over here (on the continental bit) as well, OH ...

Primrose - What a lovely story JB - Was it you that was pointing out on another thread that next year is likely to be bad 'cos all the slugs will multiply I recently read somewhere that one individual slug can produce about 3000 eggs and might 'lay' 10 to 12 times per year, that's a staggering 36,0...

We've had a huge increase in slugs this year, so far the most effective method seems to be removing them by hand, 'tho I'm saying that based on the last week, it may become impossible to do that soon. Anyway, point I want to make is that I use a neoprene glove and the first day I tried all the stick...

but the roots will be dead. Thanks Jenny, I just wanted that confirmed, I don't really object to digging it up but didn't want to find it growing in the compost heap So far as removing it from the plot, well I guess we can't expect 100% success but OH says that as long as we (I think that's the roy...

Has anyone done this?
Well this isn't exactly a weed but I couldn't think where else to post. OH & I have been digging up an area of overgrown Horse Raddish . She says we have to get rid of all the roots else they'll just come back again Well, so as to avoid dumping them elsewhere she has had the idea of submeging th...

Not very good for the transportation of vegetables then Tigger. OH If I cast my mind back to my mispent youth I can tell you that if you put a box of spuds on the back seat of a real Morgan they would surely be mashed potatoes by the time you arrived at your destination, even if it was only a coupl...

not to mention a dog I lost nearly 20 years ago . We lost our beloved Ria 22 years ago. I still have a tear in my eye when I pick up a screwdriver which she chewed the handle of. The manufacturer claimed the handles were 'indestructable' obviously not tested by Labradors We have two Newfoundlands n...
