Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

I double checked this evening, it was 28 out of 40 for the V. b. 'Vanity' and 14 for the KG packet.

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

27mm rain over the day yesterday...most in a downpour late afternoon that saw water teaming down the work drive once again...
Managed to get a load of things bedded out in the front of borders today...

Time for a quick munch on a Co-op pizza and then must get my own lawn cut.!

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Seems I didn't get on so bad then with 'mine' Quite reasonable amount came through of the V. bonariensis 'Vanity, in 1ltr pots for a couple of weeks now and moved from Kedar to outside nursery bed today. The other packet, from KG has seen 12 now put into 1 ltr pots. Meanwhile, Verbena 'Bampton' only...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

We took 20mm, by going home time...so thankfully we do seem to be the drier side of the Country again, by the sound of it.. There were getting to be some cracks in the ground so at the level we got that should be good...as long as it is back to brighter now once again. Two coats got wetted through t...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Now, that's funny as 'my' Helichrysum was ready to go out but the Statice needs a bit longer in the trays.

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

A little breezy from the NNE today but a lovely sunny day with blue sky and this morning the red kite was up in that sky again...they seem to love a bit of a breeze to hang about in. On a couple of evenings I have seen the barn owl cruising about low over the meadow section of the parkland. ...and I...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Just been putting posts and strings to the broad bean rows at home here and setting up wire for the radeo peas to climb. Having to sow some more beetroot as rows are thin...whilst beetroot in the big garden is full rows and moving well...same gardener sowed them, different soil, 5 miles apart...that...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

I understand that one has been heard in the next village to my work location.
In recent years they seem to have been limited to the coastal strip up this way.

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

On the way home this evening I spotted a field of barley coming in to ear...

..and the very newly sown Spring cereals are growing at a huge pace, lovely to see after all the patchy mess of the wet Winter sown ones..

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

It's the same with us... The local bee keeper said a few weeks ago that honey stock was starting to build well
The pear blossom was amazing and the apple blossom, still on going, likewise.. The big Newton Wonder trees are currently in full bloom.

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Warm one today, .... I turned a bit more ground with the tiller first thing and then away to source some new tyres for Skoda and after that had a bit of a weeding session along the line of apple cordons at home here. Great relief yesterday as my new phone was sorted onto the number I have had since ...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Dare I admit that we had another hot sunny dry day....we seem to be back on the drier side of England once more. ;) ...at last.. and will it last.... Had the tiller out first thing, then did some potting on whilst the top dried again after the tilling. Then in went the Charlotte potatoes, another li...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

We took 7.5mm of rain yesterday....it was just workable in the back garden this evening to put another row of peas in, Early Onward. The south end of the row was in the shade of the Bountiful apple and I had to step carefully on that bit. It has really made things grow in the big garden, some lovely...
