Re: Fish, blood and bone

I used to use FBB when planting shrubs etc but found that the fox dug every plant up. Well at least I presume it was foxes.

Nice one Geoff.
An old joke was....Virgin. What a stupid name for an airline. Who'd go with someone who won't go all the way?

Re: Peat free composts

The vast majority of peat free composts are not composted. I saw a program a while ago, allbeit about Canada, which showed that peat bogs are sustainable. It was however stating that it was about huge areas.

Re: Spring proper, Bits and Bobs.

That's great news Clive. I often moan about not having seen, or heard, the Sky Lark for so many years. A great reminder of my childhood. Thanks.

Cape Daisy

I have two cell trays of Venidium Orange Prince seedlings, in my unheated greenhouse, and they now have flower buds on them.
I don't intend planting them out until all risk of frost has passed.

My question is...Would you remove flower buds or leave them on?

Regards,
Gerry.

Re: 2019 begins

Mine is a Northern but does have pleats. So not the one you are getting. It's been up for 18 years and still going strong. Mind you the polythene needs to be very taught otherwise it won't last that long.
Best of luck with yours, I'm sure you will love it.

Re: What do you do?

Geoff and Primrose thanks for your replies. I prety well do as Geoff does and it's the smaller seeds which give me a problem. This year I have taken them out of the propagator when a few have shown through and stood them on a the greenhouse bench on a sheet of white polystyrene and it seems to be wo...

What do you do?

A question which I've been meaning to ask for a long time. When the advice on the seed packet says " Start in a propagator but move to cooler conditions when germination has taken place". Do you move as soon a some seeds have germinated or do you leave them until all have germinated and ch...
