Re: Glorious Spring Bits and Bobs.

It's still 17 degrees here & not a cloud in the sky! The bog at the back (aka the lawn) is drying out nicely and I may be able to tackle it in the next day or so. Can't wait to retire & not stare out the window wondering what I could be doing on lottie!

Re: Glorious Spring Bits and Bobs.

It was all plant, sow & hoe today. The little grown chaps had to go in as running out of room & getting too big. It looks pretty promising for the next couple of weeks so went for the sow as well & weeded the strawberries & hoed all under the fruit trees. It started cloudy & ende...

Re: Visiting suggestions

Enjoy your weekend Pa! The forum guys have done well with some suggestions, right down to lunch. If the alien is playing up there is a Golden Arches everywhere & one bite of a big mac is like eating baby food so should go down easy.

Re: Spread Sheet

I think this came up before Colin, have you searched? I am no where organised enough, I start with the best intentions & for a few weeks on it, then other jobs overtake & before I know it seasons over & I've barely recorded sowing into the 2nd week of May let alone crop progress & we...

Re: Glorious Spring Bits and Bobs.

PP! It will be fine - when have they ever got the weather wrong? :) :) :) :) I think nature is telling us it is real though, enjoying the blossom coming out, the daffs & tulips flowering, baby lambs & other critters. I believe my starling family under the roof tile at the back have hatched t...

Re: Glorious Spring Bits and Bobs.

Balmy 16 here this afternoon, but tomorrow & Friday is not as promising, next week looks pretty good & going for it this weekend regardless! That's why they make fleece isn't it? I'll need a machete to get in the back room if I don't get the Russian heritage beefsteak toms out soon!

Re: (Delayed) Spring 2018

Hi Pa! The middle is over 6'. I was concerned that the arc of the hoops would make it too low at the edges to plant much but is about 2 1/2' quickly going to 3' so with plant spacing loads of room for cabbages, smaller toms, chillies etc. I'm keeping the bed at the back very deep at about 8 ft so th...

Re: Bean Tunnel

Hi quilter! Welcome to the forum! You know I actually haven't - I'm usually mooching in those places first of all when I want something for lottie & I do go back to thinking of getting something more solid but new they are costly. Sometimes you can get very lucky & find something good that i...

Re: (Delayed) Spring 2018

Yeah! The Wonder Wall is up! Well not the full 10 metres, fortunately it flexes in size hence the rolled netting attached to the frame! The reason being I planned to heel in the leeks elsewhere but there were too many & looking too good to consider moving them just yet. As we needed access to al...

Re: Rat Poison.

I use the same as Geoff and my lottie neighbour uses one of the ones that are not available now as he bought up loads when the news came out they were being stopped for the amateurs. We have worked together baiting over winter & we have not had bait taken or signs of rats for about 6 weeks. Hope...

Re: (Delayed) Spring 2018

Today looked bad on the main weather report & my phone was pants too, but it was gloriously sunny all afternoon. Now tomorrow is giving the same grim news on the phone so I hope it is wrong as the Wonder Wall goes up. Whatever the wind seems light which is probably more important. My plan is to ...

Re: Blight?

It would be interesting to definitively know what it is but it is not blight so they can be saved. It could well be like Tiger says, so a bit of fleece or some newspaper over them at night for a week or so might show some improvement.

Re: (Delayed) Spring 2018

When you have had cloud & rain for so long you really appreciate how nature responds to a nice sunny day. My tulips are opening, my back room seedlings have shot up & my newly sown trays of lettuce are showing. Now it feels like spring! My phone is not showing any yellow cheery suns next wee...
