Re: Grow Your Own DVD
We loved it, although it was also quite sad in places. Well worth watching.

Re: Late Summer Bits and Bobs 2021.
Is anyone else heading for Malvern next weekend? We have tickets and are so excited about some "normality". I just hope that the show is a reasonable size, it seems GW Live was very reduced in exhibitors.

Re: Late Summer Bis and Bobs.
It's more like autumn than late summer here. I sat on the plot yesterday with leaves showering down on us from the avenue of trees nearby. I was wearing three layers of clothes and still needed a coffee to warm me up. No sun for days and drizzle at times too. I'm hoping for an Indian summer, but I f...

Re: Tips for Scab prevention on spuds
I was always told that insufficient water causes scab. As Geoff has asked, have they been dry?

Re: Cloggies or "back door" shoes
I have Crocs, but my preferred slip on "back door shoes" are my Emu slippers. I love Emu, very expensive, but they have indoor/outdoor soles and last for years. I'm not completely crackers, I wear slippers in the house all the time and have a new pair every year or two. The old pair then b...

Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs.
Thanks Peter, much appreciated. Maybe we'll get a warning of late blight. Eventually. We've lost one whole bed of heritage tomatoes to blight, but strangely, only half a bed of Sungold. The remaining 6 plants have had a few leaves removed but are growing well. Very strange. In addition, I've removed...

Re: Some days you just shake your head in disbelief.....
A few years ago I was deluged with those "I understand you've been in a car accident" calls and when I was recently out of hospital had yet another call. I responded with my usual "get lost ' and hung up. They called back twice more and on the third call in 10 minutes I was very offen...

Re: Blight
I used to use Bordeaux Mixture but gave that up (is it still available?) when blight proof tomatoes became available. My polytunnel is unscathed as yet, but one bed of heritage is fighting the odd leaf spot. I'm removing leaves as soon as I see damage, but I fear that all is already lost. It would t...

Re: Blight
I'm registered with Blight Watch and haven't had a warning this year. Just got blight. When I first had an allotment 20 years ago, we went 5 years with no blight and have had it every year since. Is it getting worse or were we just lucky for a while? The old timers on our site swear it was never a p...

Re: Blight
Our site in Warwickshire has been hit by blight this week. I've topped the potatoes and am praying for the heritage tomatoes which are both outside and in our polytunnel. So far they're OK, but my plot neighbours have lost theirs, including one lot in a polytunnel. The blight proof tomatoes are fine...

If there were mice, how did they get out without damaging the outside of the cabbage? No mouse bodies in there...

I'm here, just so very busy in the garden and on the allotment. I thought being retired would mean I had lots of spare time. Wrong.

Re: Anyone heard it yet?
We've been listening to a cuckoo for the past 3 days, usually around 6am.
