Re: Cost of postage.
Whilst I agree that the cost of postage appears high, especially when buying the large number of stamps that are necessary to send to lifelong friends and acquaintances, I still like to send cards. Much as I would like to donate all the expense of the cards and postage to worthwhile causes, I like t...

Re: Broad Beans
Most years I have started Masterpiece Long Pod in October in toilet roll tubes, germinated in the coldframe and planted out in late October or November to overwinter on the plot. These have had survival rates varying from moderate to excellent. Last year my October (2015) sowings got too leggy to pl...

Re: A Like button, please?
I don’t totally disagree with your sentiments Oscar, I just have concerns that some people could use a button as the easy way out, and actually diminish the number of contributions to the forum. Anything that can make the forum more dynamic I would welcome with open arms. If such a device encouraged...

Thanks Robo. It's nice to know I am not completely a minority of one.

Re: A Like button, please?
Just to be contentious; which way would things go with the introduction of a ‘like’ button? Would it provide too much of an easy option that could discourage actual posts containing expressions of opinion, thus doing nothing to widen our knowledge base, or would it provide a first ‘toe-in-the-water’...

Just picked up my copy of KG from the local shop, and have only skimmed through it so far. It looks good; and I greatly approve of the 'Last Word' page.

That's a nice sentiment about the warm cuddly feeling.
This forum can be a great place to give other people cuddles as well as advice (and banter).

Re: What I harvested today!
Westi: Thanks for the concern. I think the back can be classed as old age and having twisted slightly awkwardly when weeding about 8 weeks ago. It just seems reluctant to get back to normal this time, but slowly getting there. Primrose: The beans are just on the open plot on the lottie, growing up a...

Re: What I harvested today!
Today's harvest was but a quick one; leeks (Musselburgh), runner beans (Aintree), Kestrel potatoes and the last of the Gigantes (giant beans). Followed by a bit of a clear-up of brassica leaves. Winter digging will have to wait until the bad back improves!
