Many thanks!

Very grateful for the info - nothing like experience with these things.

My book said harvest from August - and the pumpkin was big and hard and hollow sounding so I thought it must be ready. It's true though, I thought the flesh looked a bit green round the edges!

Too many pumpkins - help!

Hello It’s my first year growing veg. Some success and lots of failures - a few I can blame on the awful weather but muddling up my cauliflower and red pepper seeds was definitely down to me. But my pumpkins seem very good. They are in a sheltered sunny spot (Cornwall) against a wall sheltered from ...

All very interesting

Just to say I have found your debate very interesting - and I shall do a bit more research as a result. Slugs and snails

It's so annoying to have slugs and snails eat new plants! I lost 3 basil plants which I had grown from seed (and I'm not very good with this seed business yet, so I was extremely proud of the basil). But I have had very good results with Nematodes - no slugs at all but still lots of snails. I wonder...

Thanks so much

You have all been very kind with your advice and posts. I dug up one of the plants and there were 5 "normal" size new potatos and several tiny marbles. So I don't think the potatos are ready - the plants didn't flower. Although maybe 5 is all I get per plant? The stems below the soil were ...

Potato Troubles

Hello, I'm new (to the forum and growing things) I'm trying to grow new potatoes - all was going well with very healthy looking green growth. Then I noticed some brown spots. Within a week half the plants have yellow leaves covered in brown spots. The stems are also yellow and just fall out of the g...
